After a bit of wrestling with self, I'm glad to say I've been able to justify joining the Nightforce ranks.
Looks like their BR series will work best for me. 12x42 for 600 and some 1000 yard bench shooting. I was pleased to see them offering the CH reticles now in the BR series.
My problem is I don't have any easy way to actually view these reticles in person, much less see them under some strong mirage... My once perfect eyesight has slipped quite a bit in the last 10 years. I know these are fine crosshairs, but I'd hate to end up with something that disappears in the soup.
Dan Lilja is pretty close, but he doesn't stock the CH3, nor was he very anxious to order one in without a commitment from me to take it. His opinion was that it would be too fine for tough conditions.
I was hoping for some advice from shooters who have used these CH reticles. I see that the CH1 & 2 reticles are a little heavier, but I really like the idea of the small unconnected dot. Any of you with less than perfect eyesight have any help for me?
Thanks, Dick
