I,m looking for another scope for my F class/1000yd gun now. I,m looking at the Night force 12-42x Benchrest scope. How does this scope stack up against the NXS? What is the tracking/click repeatability like?

I have one of each and this is how it was described to me: If you plan on crawling though ditches, get the NXS, if you are going to punch paper off of a bench, get the benchrest.

The NXS' are really solid and built to take abuse. Both are great glass either way! Can't go wrong with either, but for the extra $$$ for the NXS, if you crawl in ditches, it may be just the ticket!

Clicks are definately solid and crisp! Great scopes all around.

I have 3 of the BR models and think it is the greatest scope around without spending over 2K for a March I don't think I would care for the 1/4 moa clicks the BR models 1/8 moa clicks are very desireable for target shooting also the front parallax adjust vs side on the NXS is fine if not better for match shooting.

$2400,hope they're better because i've got one coming!maybe lou will add his thoughts as to how much better they are, seems to be lots of discussion on the matter,i'd like to hear from someone who has actually compared them to the nightforce

There Better

I looked through Lou Murdica's March at the 600 yard Nationals. You could see your bullet holes without any trouble. My 12-42 could see holes on occasion but not all the time. This was the original March not the variable.

Don Nielsen has been shooting the 12-60 March and he set 6 or 7 records with it-I think he likes it alot.

Lou I thought you were going to shoot with us last month? Hope all is well with you.

I have both BR and NXS nodels and agree with what has been said. The BR is better for the range, the NXS better for the field. The NXS has a better field of range and more adjustment but is 'only' 1/4 moa clicks. I think the NXS models are slightly lighter too?

Nightforce

The Benchrest series is clearer, has 1/8 moa clicks and is considerably cheaper (over $300 difference) than its NXS brother. I have been a user of both for years and am one of their dealers. I stock zeiss, leup, nikon,NF and most of the others but (5) NF's are what I own. I stock the 12-42 benchrest series at all times and will be happy to supply you with one.

Well, due to the positive feedback, Ive bitten the bullet and ordered a 12-42x NF from a shop here in Australia. I will see how it goes when it turns up.

How much verticle adjustment do the 12-42x BR scopes have?
