To all my dear new friends from around the world.

This is a quick message as i am not very well at the moment, but i had to write this to you all.

Being the only disabled shooter at the event means a number of things for me. Since i started shooting about 6yrs ago, a dream of mine was to maybe take part in the para olympics if i was ever lucky. but I went one better i was able to take part in the first Air & Rimfire Benchrest World Championships which to me is one better as i was able to shoot along side abled bodied shooters. Our sport alllows disabled shooters to be to be part of the norm which is a big thing for me and for all thos disabled people that shoot or maybe thinking of taking up shooting, this is the sport to be in.

I have made so many new friends from around the world and feel i have learnt so much from sitting and talking to you all. I have some fantastic memories that will live with me for ever and have some great photo's that if you give me time to recover i will upload and you will be able to download.

we have laughed and joked with each other and will all have some memories to remember.

I wish to say well done to all those that won individual medals and the team events, you were a plesure to shoot against.

Our sport is now in safe hands for the future and will grow to a point were around the world benchrest shooting will be seen a world class sport and we that have made the first world championship has set that in stone. we are all winners from this event as we have begun a healthy future for world championships for the future.

A big thank you should go to Carlo as he is the one has made this future for the sport. and a big thank you to all the staff at TSN Milano for hosting this great event.

I hope everyone arrived home safe and well and I will be in contact with you all soon with photo's to view and keep.

Best wishes to all my new friends around the world.

Andy Dubreuil, UK Team

Andy,
Get Well!!

We all need the help and the inspiration that went into your post!!
Thanks for putting down in words what a lot of the truly dedicated shooters feel.
My only regret is that I was unable to come over and shoot on a bench next to you.
Best Regards

Can I congradulate all the winners of the world championships, but also all the people that took part. I reiterate Andy's feelings. This was made special by the shooters who took part and this made the week for me, as it is about them - going out for dinner and exchanging views and having a laugh. The shooting was fierce and hard at times but I know I have gone away feeling I am a better shooter for it. On the UK side of things we competed with the best, narrowly missing out on medals in the unlimited 50m - 5th place individual and 4th place team. It has been an honour to shoot beside shooters of like minds and actually get to know them. By the time the next WC comes around - 2011 in the USA - I am sure we will be even more competitive. We can but learn!
DJ - glad to hear you got home well and this goes for the rest from South Africa, Australia, Czech Republic, etc.
DJ, Craig and David it has been my pleasure! David and DJ I will be in touch soon. My best, Carl

Hi from Tokyo on route to Australia, I would like to agree with Andy & Carl but also thank them very much, they did a lot of steering & helping behind the scenes to ensure everything was smooth for competitors. You 2 are fine gentleman & you did your country proud both in shooting & public relations. I am happy to call you mates & look forward to meetring you again at the next World Championships..

Guys,

I’ve just gotten home from my 25 hours in a plane; I was upgraded to business class again on the 14 hour leg from Dubai to Sydney. I do live a charmed life of late.

Ran into Bill (he came back via Japan) at the airport and we both arrived home with our rifles in one piece and no problems.

Glad to hear you made it one piece and with your equipment. Some time when you're rested up I'd love to hear how the customs thing went down that they charged you for sporting equipment that was going to go back home with you.

I can tell you from UK - Italy - $20 for every kilo over the normal 20kg baggage allowance, same again when you come back :mad:

Team South Africa

Hi everyone

The team got back to South Africa Yesterday after a few days extra in Milan. Hope all the other countries also got back home safe.

We almost left our Rifle cases in Milan when Emirates wanted us to pay 67Euro for a kg. My case was 25kg:eek:. Luckily we got it sorted.

Just also want to say that I enjoyed every moment of the 1st world rimfire and airrifle competition and hope to see most of you in 3 years time in the USA.

I learned so much during that week and hopefully I can put it to work in my own shooting.

Thanks to everyone who made this event great. It was also good to get to know some shottist from around the world.

Lets keep on shooting and I know this sport of ours will only grow in the future.

Regards,
Natali

You were a very nice, well mannered young lady and were a credit to the sport and your country. As far as shooting goes, I don't think you have much to learn, your results were very impressive. Look forward to shooting against you in 2011

I reiterate what Brian has said. Well done Natalie. You are a credit to South Africa and should be proud of all you have achieved.
I believe you got a first Lady position in the Air Rifle Unlimited B Match, so well done.

Carl,
I look forward to reading about the exploits of the UK team but meanwhile, is there a site where we can access the full results?
Cheers
Vince (UK)

Doug has done one on this thread for full individual results. I have been told the official team results will be this weekend with aggregates etc. Sorry I am not in control of this so we all wait. Cheers, Carl
