Just saw on www.savageshooters.com that Savage will offer an AR-15 type chassis system for the savage line of rifles. A factory "Tube" rifle with the new duel port action in 6mmbr with an 1 in 8 twist barrel. I can see savages turning up at a lot of shoots since they are making what target shooters want, at least for a factory.

Savage has listened to their customer base. For someone who wants to get into a particular discipline of shooting, not counting the custom BR route, Savage is a good starting platform. Pac Nor, Shilen, McGowan, etc. are all making decent pre-fit barrels for those wanting to improve.

The tactical rifle is an effort to capitalize on the huge popularity of the AR platform. It offers cross-platform compatibility between an operator’s autoloader and his bolt gun. The Savage will accept any standard AR style buttstock or pistol grip, so a shooter can have a bolt gun with the same look and feel of his AR no matter the configuration. Also because the upper receiver is machined aluminum, there is no expense of a new plastic or fiberglass mold. Therefore, we could justify a small run of a nonstandard caliber like 338 Lapua, which doesn’t fit in a long-action stock, without breaking the bank.

The last time that I went to Savageshooters I got a virus. Has the virus been cleaned up?

I like the look of tactical bolt actions and AR-15 type rifles. I have to say, that is one of the most ugly rifles I have ever seen.
