James Pappas is now making Sandbag tops for his rest. The new tops take a Ken Fulghum Top: and man are they neat. Myself , Kirk Gaston and Cheeto have been using them for about 2 months with Great Success. Look in classified under One-Piece Rest to see a photo of this new top.

Looking

better and better! When I ordered my rest last Nov. I had James 45 the rear of my rest, I guess it caught on. Mr Wallace Putnam made me a top for my Loggins top to fit in, so I have the choice of both Worlds. Really have to say James does make a very fine one piece rest and it only gets better as time goes on.

Cadillacjack,

I have the top and the sand, but just haven't gotten around to filling the bag yet. Now I recall the supposed advantage of delrin over sandbags was more consistent recoil. What would you say is the now the advantage of sandbags over delrin?

Damn, just like cars now.....do I have to trade in my 05 pappas for an 09? I think I'll wait for the 2010 model to come out.

Hey Beau

Beau, I think the advantage is Less Vibration. Actually the advantage for me is that my agg. has gone up about 50 points since I started shooting off sand. Fred

The point is you don't have to buy a new rest you only have to buy the new top. It fits right into the same hole that your current top fits into. It truly makes your rest more versaitle Fred

new rest

james just made me a new one using a sinclair front rest. he adapted it to fit. since i am using a martini mrk. 5 now it is still a pain to use but better. it is very easy to change tops when i want to shoot the davis or calfee b/r rifles.

the forend of the martini makes keeping the rifle leval difficult but it seems to be workiing for me.

james does fantastic work his turnaround is unbelievable.

What the heck! Are we gonna return to a folded blanket on the hood of the car?

When I bought my Pappas, I was assured that I was getting the latest and greatest of rests and materials.

Now you guys are saying that Mr. Pappas has changed his mind and a sand bag is the way to go?

Dammit, my scores never went up when I switched from a Farley and Edgewood, but I just figgered that I had not adjusted correctly to the Pappas one piece.

Now it appears that,

Maybe the lack of the sand bag was the culprit. If so, I would think that a recall from Mr. Pappas would be in order to replace the inefficient delrin parts that have caused my aggs to fall, my income to suffer, and my family to leave me. With the exception of my girlfriend, who has faithfully returned each week when I am able to afford it.

James, you can expect a letter from my Attorney. It won't be specific, like I want the new parts, but rather the impact on my potential of being a star in the Rimfire Benchrest World will be addressed. There are potentially tens of hundreds of dollars at stake here.

I am willing to settle out of court to avoid the embassasment your Company will suffer in the Rimfire Benchrest World.

So have your peeps contact my peeps and we will see if we can settle this possibly incendiary issue without further complications.

Best Regards,

John Harris

John, why don't you talk to Kirk Gaston, He did not want to give up his sand bag when he went to a one piece rest. Then other people saw Kirk and wanted the same thing. Then Kirks friend Cheeto shot a 2500 and then more people want what Cheeto is using. Kirk got Fred Leeds to try a sand bag and he gave up the top he had been using the last 2 years and doing quite well with. John, since I haven't got my "bail out money", I am making what people ask for. As far as your scores its not the rest, it is because you shoot a alot like me. I haven't changed my mind, I am still using the top I have been using for 5 years. I can't afford the new tops. Just have your attorney send the letter to my attorney, Fred Leeds. I am sure you will get a call from Fred.

History

In the interest of being historicaly correct, I think Jerry Washam was the first to ask me to make an adaptor so he could use his Fulghum tops. This was at the ARA Winter Nationals last year at Rocky River. I had never seen a Fulghum rest but I won one from the RBA raffle. After getting back to Texas and looking at the Fulghum rest I understool what Jerry wanted. I have to say the Fulghum rest is one of the best designed and most user friendly rests I have ever used. Of couse all of you using this rest already knew that, but for anyone looking for a front rest, these are a "work of art".

the rest

i always found problems always brought more opportunities in business. so james get ready.

by the way your check will be in the mail mond sure.

Bags

I noticed the new Pappas front bags have a black "magic" fabric sewn into them. Looks like very slick stuff.
