 Can any one give me detailed information on how to adjust the new remington x mark pro trigger?

Old Model vs. New?

These instructions, and they're very good by the way, are for the older Rem 700 trigger....rather than the XMark. I've been looking for info on the new trigger, and haven't found it. Am I missing something here?

x mark pro trigger info

Thanks Tyler for the information, but Vartarg is correct. Your info is for the old 700 trigger.

From what Remington Customer Service told me there is a difference in how the two triggers are adjusted.

I followed the same method for adjusting my two new triggers. They function pretty much the same way, just use an Allen head. I cleaned off the locking compound and did it the very same way.

Don't keep us in suspense,

How well do the new triggers do? How light do they adjust? Crisp?
Regards, Ron

Rem X Mark Pro triggers

The post 2006 Rem X Mark Pro trigger differs from the pre 2006 Rem trigger several ways-
The RXMP trigger overtravel screw/stop rotates aft to block trigger movement as the safety is applied.

I don't dislike mine....maybe I'm just used to them, but I prefer the old trigger better. Its kind of nice that the new one is all stainless.

Hello,

I am new to the forums and very impressed. I know this thread is pretty old but I thought I would reply anyway. I have a new X Mark Pro trigger and lightened it myself after some research. It still breaks very clean and virtually has no creep. Hopefully this will help someone.

Here is how I did it.

I removed the stock from the action and barrel assembly. With the barrel facing to the left and the trigger facing up there is only one screw you have to adjust. (See attachment for placement of screw). Now you have to remove the factory locking compound. I used a dental pick I picked up from a swap meet. Insert a 1/16" Allen wrench and turn counter clockwise. (Make sure you count your turns) I backed mine out two turns. I don’t have the exact pull weight but I will post it when I get my scale back from my buddy.

When done, assemble your rifle, Clear your action (I know you did it before you started but double check) now with the rifle ready to fire, hold it by the barrel and smack the butt stock on the ground to make sure it does not misfire.

Again! Hopefully this helps somebody

Closing the bolt "SMARTLY" as instructed in the Remington owners manual will give better results to ensure proper sear/striker engagement than thumping the butt of the stock on the ground.

A properly "TIMED" firing pin will eliminate trigger pull variances & allow for two finger cycling of the bolt.

I just tried to adust a new rem trigger yesterday...

the allen head screws were epoxied in, I stripped the allen heads right away.

I had to install an aftermarket trigger on a new 308 with a triangle shaped barrel.

I am not a happy camper.

hey keith !!

The trigger wt. screw only has sealent on the top of the screw, but the other two are inside the threads.I have been able to scrape off the sealent on the pull wt. on the three i did and turn the screw. You may have to bump the screw back and forth till it breaks loose, the other two if you need to adjust them need heat to break loose.

Dans40X,

Good call on closing the bolt. I tried that to (fogot to post) it did not misfire when I close the bolt or tapped the bolt handle with a rubber mallet.

keithcandler,

What trigger did you put in your VTR?

I just purchased a Remington VLS in 22-250 and it came with the Xmark trigger. No overtravel and very smooth but the weight on my lyman guage was 5.5 pounds. After looking all over the internet I found this thread which is the only one with any different information. I tried freeing up the overtravel and the sear engagement screws to no avail. I was able to free up the the weight screw and managed to get the pull down to 2lb and 11oz average on the scale for 10 pulls with only about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn on the weight screw. Passed the saftey checks I had been reading about with virtually no overtravel. Resealed the weight screw with nail polish. Very nice trigger now, but is it supposed to work that easy ? Guess I just wasn't expecting it to be so simple.

Is nail polish the best thing to use to reseal it? Looking to do this soon and just reading up as much as possible beforehand.

Nail polish is OK & it can be removed with acetone.

Just remember to choose a colour that compliments your stock finish or your outfit. ;)
