Went to the range today to give the new Lapua Scenar-L a try! We still have a lot of snow here in northern Sweden and my experience with shooting over thick snow isn´t good but we had plesant weather here today with a temperature around freezing and not a lot of wind so I had to give the new Scenars a try:cool:

My friend have a 6 XC with a Krieger 1-8" barrel that shoots really well with Berger 105 Match that we decided would be a good platform to test the new Scenars in. A few shots at 100 m didn´t look really good with Bergers or Scenars, five shot groups around .5

We moved back to 500 m and things started to work really well! As a final test my friend made a 10 shot group without windflags on the range that mesured pretty spot on 3". It looks lite the new Scenar L bullet will deliver really well from our short test today!

Shooting over snow WHEN IT'S SNOWING ain't bad

But on a nice sunny day....... wow! Some real mirage!

Nice big snowflakes is one of the best wind indicators I have tried! Everything else about shooting in cold temps is a real killer in my opinion :(

There could be a real messy bubbling mirage that makes things really difficult when shooting over thick snow but I get a slow moving mirage that is impossible to handle for me. I can´t get a grip on that "slow mirage" and the reticle is slowly crawling across the target and I don´t know when or where to shoot......

Yesterday wasn´t to bad, we could easy see bullet holes at 500 m at black targets on snow in my Nightforce 8-32 and my friends Zeiss 6-24. Have to add that it´s a lot easyer to se bulletholes on black targets on snow than with a white target with a black backer.
