I did a lot of engraving on one of those, they are nice. I have a benchtop model with several sets of fonts. Rarely use it, though.

I have 8 different sets of fonts and like the block best. I also have a motorized kit and the things to hold trophies and other odd shapes. One of my real good friends was the southwest sales manager for New Hermes. He used to have a shop full of goodies. A lot of the guys on this forum have bought from Carl.

Be careful on Ebay. What some people call sets are not full sets of fonts. I have a catalog that list the amount of fonts and which ones come in a set.

How do you hold a round barrel in a new Hermes? All I've seen is for flat work.

I made a set of "vee" blocks that fit the horizontal holes (5/8" I think) in the vise. Made them out of 1 1/2" delrin.

A standard set has 160 fonts. This includes numbers and some symbols and spacers.
