Hello everyone, I'm looking at trying to get back into long range shooting now that i'm almost done with college. I'm don't have a lot of money, does any one have some suggestions on a good rifle to start out with under $800. I'm looking into the 308. because it will be cheaper to reload and shoot. I've look at a lot of different rifles remintons, savages, howa but just not sure which one would be better by factory standard at 1000 yards.

I think the 6.5mm rounds or maybe a 260 with 140 grain bullets or thereabouts work a bit better at 1000. They're no more expensive to reload than 308.
