I live essentially at the corner of Kluge Rd and Huffmeister Rd in Cypress Texas. When I stand out on my back porch I can sometimes hear gun shots very clearly and close by, I can also easily hear the shots from inside my home.

It's not Hot Wells I'm hearing, I know where that is and it's too far away but I can't find any ranges listed

What gun range is close enough for me to be able to hear ?

Thanks for your help.

I don't know the area but I can offer a theory. Look at Google maps, satellite view. Travel about a quarter of a mile south of Kluge on Huffmeister, then look just north of Huffmeister. There's a narrow cleared cut through the trees. It's a little over a hundred yards long. Maybe someone has their own private range out your way.

You can find lots of fun things on Google maps. I live not too many miles from you, in Spring. When Google maps first started showing satellite views, I naturally looked at my house and the surrounding areas. I shouldn't have been surprised to see three large marijuana patches between my house and I-45, scattered along Spring creek. A few months later, Google had updated the imagery and the patches were replaced with brown spots.

Incidentally, I also hear gun shots from my house. There's no range near me, either. However, there is lots of "out in the county" land where it's technically legal to discharge firearms. I've seen kids from my neighborhood walking out of the scrub and into the subdivision carrying air guns. If all they wanted to do was check function or zero, I would not be at all surprised if some folks occasionally tacked up a target on a tree and let a few rounds fly. It's easier to walk a hundred yards out of the subdivision than it is to pack up the car for a trip to the range. I don't condone it since you can't shoot in any direction near my house without also shooting in the direction of someone else's house. But I no longer give it a second thought. I've gotten used to it over the last 15 years that I've lived here.

I could also go off on a long rant about the way we do zoning in this part of the country and how it helps create situations like this...but this has gotten too long already.

Thanks, I'm not complaining ... I want to join.

I *think* Tomball Gun Club is too far away to be a possibility, I've heard rumors it's a LEO training facility but I'm not sure if people are just making up answers when they say that.

For all I know it could be a good ol' boy having fun on his property but I don't think so because of the regularity.
