This is to let everyone know that the ground is about to be broken at the new club site in Northern Missouri at Spickard. This will be a 600 and 1000 yard club affiliated with the IBS located 3/4 of a mile off Missouri 65 a major north/south highway. The equipment is sitting at the site waiting for it to quit raining so the firing line, berms and target lines can be built. The plan at this time is to hold matches in the end of July or the first of August of 2008. With a little luck we should be able to get in a near full match season. Then we will shoot a full match season in 2009. I will keep you posted as things progress. The club wishes to extend and invitation to all you long range shooters to come and join us when we get up and running.

Update On Range

Thought I would update the progress at the new range. As you all probably already know we’re still getting a lot of rain, but good news is that the equipment is still on site and waiting for it to dry out. As soon as it dries out, work will begin at the range. I will keep you posted as to what progress is being made.

Gene,

Good to hear that everything is still in the go mode. Can't wait to have 1 within 20 and 1 within 250 Miles and 1 within 400 miles. That means that there is a chance to shoot 3 IBS 1000 yds matches a month, and rumor has it that all 3 of these ranges plus Nebraska will be shooting 600 yds.

WHAT A DEAL:p

Hi Mike,

That was one of the considerations for doing the club. This should provide shooters with the chance to attend multiple clubs if they so desire. One big advantage I see is that if a family, work related or any problem arises you will still have a couple of matches you could choose from so you would not loose a months shooting. Another advantage would be for the shooter who is on the quest for the Marksmanship or Shooter of the Year awards. These shooters would have the opportunity to attend multiple clubs closer to home and not have to travel a thousand miles plus east to shoot at multiple clubs. Of course he or she would have to be on their game or there would be no advantage.

Still waiting for three or four days of dry so we can get started. When that happens it won't take long to be up and running. I will keep you posted as to what is happening.
