Remember you heard it here first.
6.8-.284 Win!!!!!!!!!! using the new Berger 150 VLD bullets. Should be about the right velocity range with better barrel life than the 6.5 and faster than the standard .284 Win. with less recoil. Who will be first? or am I late?

Cases

Roger,
Of course it has been done, there aren't too many new things going on when it comes to cartridge cases, reading Ackley's book proves this.
But there has never been match bullets for long range available for a .270 before either. Jack O'Connor would be proud!?
I have a 7mm-.284 throated for 180 VLD's but shooting lighter bullets with a BC of .545 is an viable option always. I was looking at it from a case volume/bullet wt. scenario. And something new is always fun to try.

Hi Rory !
How about something in 6.5 (.264/6.71mm)? There again, the bullet choices today are many. New bullets, like 120-123-130gr. open up many more possibilities than in the past. Last Missoula shoot a guy (Larsen) shooting a 6.5 Dasher, first time out with it, shot an 8.18 group. (Don't know what bullet he was using).

By the way, have you built anymore of those 30 cal. BT bullets that you sent
me last year? Have a new barrel, different twist, that I'd like to try some in.

Have you been shooting any 1,000 yd. matches? Or are you hooked on the
VFS and Hunter Class now.
You take care,
Gary .

Middle weight

I use a lot of mid-weight bullets for those same purposes (a little more vel. and fair bal Cos.) My 30-284 loves the 165-185 range, especially the new 185 Berger BTs with a better BC than the 185 VLDs :D cheers

lol.....maybe you should look at this "new" round out of the swiss.......gp-11

7.5x55 swiss.....shoots a 173 or so bt like bullet..........

ohh it was new in 1930 or so....

( for the record lots of k31 swiss rifle shooters use 284 win brass necked up to 30 for a source of 7.55 x 55 brass, the rebated rim is not an issue)
