I went by Ditz range on Monday but they were closed and then called several times on tuesday but got no answer.
Is everything OK out there? I didn't think they were normally closed.
Ted

Mon & Tuesday

Howard closes the shop on both days. If you have a prepaid yearly membership, I believe you will still be able to use the range. You just won't have a range master to keep thing safe. As for Howard, his still doing fine.

Thanks Fred
I guess being a member of CTBRS I could have stayed and shot.
But the main thing is that everything is OK.
I guess we will have a match this weekend.
If I don't win at least now I have an excuse.
Ted

If you just want to shoot

We will be have a ARA Night shoot up the hill from the main range, Saturday June 21ST. We shoot Unlimited 22RF if you just want to shoot. We sign up at 7PM. Come on up and check us out.

Fred
That sounds like a lot of fun. But I don't even have a 22 rifle.
I had to sell most of my worldly possesions to stay in Center Fire BR.

Ted:
Rumor has it that there will be a centerfire BR Match on Sunday the 15th.

Hope you will introduce the shock and awe of the mighty 257 TED Nitro. I will bring double hearing protection.

Do we need to take up a donation, so that you can buy powder and primers?? I know times are tuff, what with high gas prices and the price of groceries going through the roof. I can donate a couple of pounds of H-322, I don't use anymore, since I took the Benchmark challange.
Concerned,
Bob

Thanks but No need to worry about donations. I get paid on friday and my LES says "Tax dollars donated by BOB".

Also I took your rifle to the Reds Range on Tuesday and shot 2 groups .112 and a .135 back to back using that 2520 powder you sold me last year with the russian primers.

I know this is not related to benchrest shooting but I have to ask you, I was stationed at Randolph AFB for 5 years and to help with money my wife the one that out shoots me was a car hop at the Super Dog in New Braunfels, and lived in Seguin, are any of you old enough or lived there to remember it? I have not been to the area for years and I am sure it has grown a lot.
Tom

Ted:

I don't care how small the groups are. I will NOT take the rifle back. You bought it, an it is yours. Nice try, but you have to keep it.
Bob

Tom,

Grown is an understatement. There is little open land between San Antonio and New Braunfels - I35 is 6 lanes wide (or more).

Many housing developments in and around it. Sadly, it won't be long before Dietz' Range is surrounded new homes instead of ranches...

Regards,

Pete L

P.S. I hope to make it to the match this weekend - forecast is for mild temperatures and light winds. NOAA states: Sunday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 99. Calm wind becoming southeast between 5 and 10 mph. Maybe the winds will be light so the mirage will show its full potential. :)

Are you sure it wasn't called Randolph Army Airfield when you were there?

Thanks Pete it was not very large when I was there a lot of space. And I know about what you are saying about building and the range, this happened to us here in CA. when they closed down the San Gabriel range when some home owners complained about noise, even though the range was there before them.

Yes it was Randolph AFB, it was a headquarters base, Universal City was just outside the gates. Both of our kids were born at Fort Sam Houston so in some regards I guess we have some Texas blood in the family.

Thanks for answering this even though it does not relate to BR. I was hoping to come back to the area one of these years and check it out and maybe even shoot a match.

Pete:
Hope to see you. Yes the temp. is supposed to be a fairly mild 98 -99, I don't expect we will have really hot days until July. At least it is a nice dampish heat, so your skin doesn't get all dried out. The sweat will keep us moist.

Don't forget, Mr. Mirage is your best friend. Wind flags will lie to you, but Mr. Mirage is honest.
