NEW Berger 30 cal 210 gr BT Bullet Test

Two down and two more to go. We are looking for a few more good shooters with 30 cal rifles (with 11" twist or faster). We have just finished making our first run of 30 cal 210 gr BT bullets. We want to test these bullets before we make them an official part of our line. (It seems like I have said this before)

These bullets use a tangent ogive and will not be as sensitive to seating depth as the VLDs. We were (again) pleasantly surprised to find that the BC for this bullet is higher than the BC for the 210 gr VLDs making this the highest BC 30 cal bullet we make (for now since a 240 gr is scheduled for 2009).

Berger 30 cal 210 gr VLD = .631 BC
NEW Berger 30 cal 210 gr BT = .647 BC

If you can test these bullets by April 8th 2008 then please send an email to michelle.gallagher@bergerbullets.com. Please include your address, phone number, email address and brief description of your rifle.

We will collect these emails until Monday Feb. 25th. One box of bullets will be shipped on February 26th to those who are selected. Each tester who provides their results by April 8th, 2008 will be eligible for a 50% discount off up to 5 boxes of Berger Bullets (any cal and weight) to help offset your cost of consumables.

Regards,
Eric

P.S. Those who are part of the new 155.5 gr BT and 185 gr BT tests are eligible for this test as well.

Sounds like a good bullet! Cant wait to test!

Keep working on that 225-240 30 cal bullet, hoping for a VLD!

thanks

The designs for the 338 cal bullets are completed. We will be making a 250 gr and 300 gr. Each weight will be made in three different shapes. There will be a standard tangent ogive design (BT), a hybrid dual radius design and a full blown VLD with a BC too high to take seriously until we can prove it.

Regards,
Eric

Vinny,

Our production plan is to have these bullets in September. There is much to do between now and then so don't be surprised if it takes longer.

The bad news is we cannot say for certain when the bullets will be ready. The good news is that we are working on this project every day so it is only a matter of time before the Berger 338 cal bullets are on the shelf.

Regards,
Eric

I got to test these and they have great potential in my opinion, they shot well at short ranges and I shot them in a 1000 yard match yesterday, no vertical and good groups for the conditions. I was able to vary the seating depth from touching the lands to jumping them .120 at different stopping places along the way with no real difference in accuracy. I would have liked to test a little further, I ran out before I was able to push them harder, I tested at 2750fps and they did good. They would be a good addition to the Berger line. Ron Tilley

Eric your efforts to improve your products are impressive.

Let me know if you want someone to test your not-yet designed or released for testing 7mm high BC 180 grain BT in 600 yard and 1,000 yard F-Class. :D

I tested these at short range at 3035 fps, from touching to .030 jump and they shot very well at .030 jump. Kerry Vinson

New Berger 210 BT Match

Kerry,

Jean-Pierre and I pretty much found the same results testing @ 200yds and @ 2768 fps out of a 24" barrel.. Our results showed best groups @ .020 off the lands and shot well.

God Bless, Pierre and Jean-Pierre

I have also shot the new Berger 210's. All tests at 200 yds. Gun Remington action 308 Baer 30" barrel @2950. Powder RL-25,Fed 210m primers. I have shot 40 bullets so far, starting with shoved into the lands, .5 off, and .10 off. The further I moved back the better the groups. These are 10 shot groups. The shoved into the lands groups were 1.2 inches. The .5 off were .90, and the .10 off were .6 at 200 yds. I will try them this weekend at 600, and at .20 off. Thanks, Waverly McNeill

Eric do you have a delivery date on these bullets for those of us who haven't shot them yet? I would like to try them out before April 21st if any will be in the pipeline by then?

Test results

I have attached an Excel spreadsheet with the results of the testing. The rifle is a Leonard Baity built .300 Ackley LG w/ a Broughton 1 in 11" twist at 300 yards. The best results I found were with the 210 .010" off of the lands.
