New Barrel Time

I've been talking about getting a new barrel well its time. Can anyone tell me what is,or is there any difference between a standard twist an a gain twist barrel.

The difference is that the twist "gains" in the gain twist. It may start at 14.5 and end up at 14 for instance.

A regular twist just stays constant from end to end.

If your question is "is there a gain in accuracy to be had from a gain twist?" then the answer would have to be "no one really knows"........

You could say some people think there is. On the other hand your "no one really knows" answer is still correct.

Also to add to that.....
some people think so, some people don't think so and some people are indifferent to the idea.
Some people are having success with them and some people are having success with traditional straight twist..
That should clear things up for you and you should now be able to make an informed decision.
Next you will need to know what is the very best bullet for BenchRest and what is the very best load for BenchRest.
I am pretty sure that those answers will be pretty easy to set in stone as well.
