The Sandlapper Gun Club is a new 600 yd range in central S.C.. After dining on an all you can eat helping of red tape and costly permits compliments of our range shy public servants we are in the final stages of phase one. We are now working on support buildings, the covered shooting line (10 BENCH NOW/10 MORE PLANNED) and the target stands. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to make the facility as user friendly as possible. The state did beat us, the county did cheat us, but thank God they did not defeat us.

Why don't you and some buddies come shoot Piedmont this weekend and Oak Ridge the 4th weekend and take a hard look at both ranges and how each club approaches running a match.

Lets us know when your up and running, some of us Va boy's would like to make the trip.

Tracker Troy,
Where is this new range located? I live in SC and would be very interested in a close place to shoot.

I've been there and when they get done they will have a great facilty. Looking forward to shooting there.

You do need to come to Piedmont this weekend and see how things are done.

Another 600 yard range within a days drive sounds great to me! I use to be in a hunting club in a little town in southern SC named Ridgeland. Where are you located? I loved that SC hospitality.
You should seriously consider being sanctioned by the IBS. Dave Tooley from Gastonia, NC is on the IBS Long Range Committee and so is another local: Larry Isenhour from Zionville, NC. Both shoot at Piedmont and sometimes Oak Ridge. They are great guys and can help you with any questions. The match director from Piedmont (Tommy Williams), and Oak Ridge (Larry Sparks) are both great guys and can help with any questions also. Piedmont has IBS 600 yard matches the 2nd Sat. of the month through Sept. We have a shoot this weekend. Oak Ridge, Tenn. hold IBS 600 yard matches the 4th Sat of each month. Look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely, Samuel Hall, Boonville,NC

I am free this weekend after mid-day friday. I think that is a good idea. Let me see what I can do. I will say I am going to try to be there. TT

Guys, Thanks for all the positive feedback. It's really great to hear considering the BS I have endured to get the green flag from the local dictators. I will have a new page added to my site tonight with pics of the range.
Go to boar-hunter.com and click on the rifle range button on the right of the screen.
The range is located 4 mi. off of I-26 at exit 125. That's basically between Columbia and Orangeburg, in an area outside of Swansea called Sandy Run. I look forward to meeting you all at Peidmont. You can't miss me, look for the western hat with a hog tusk band around it! Thanks TT

600yds

Happy to hear that you are opening up the range, I have shot two old 500 yds matches at Piedmont NC in the past. Very close to home, Prosperity SC, just built a straight 6br and planing on shooting some 600- probably talk some of the guys that shoot some score matches to come shoot also. Also there are some guys that shoot 600 at Palmetto GC- in Summerville SC. Good luck in your adventure!!!
