I am going to be ordering a new 22ppc short reamer and I would like some opinions on what some of you like or dislike in a 22 short ppc. I had a Borden full size 22ppc reamer, that was made so that one could chamber full size on down to .125 short and not have any issues with the base being to small. I no longer have that reamer, and to be real honest im not sure I liked it much anyway. it was pretty big in the base. Not that big in the base is bad, but it definitely was big.
One thing I noticed with that reamer also was that pushing the shoulder back on a fired case was a chore. I really had to cam my press over to get a fired case back into the rifle chamber. Now maybe that is normal, or maybe that didn't have anything to do with the reamer. I assume it could have been an issue with the die, but I couldn't see any evidence that it was the dies fault?? the die wasn't completely bottomed out on the shell holder, and I tried several shell holders of different sizes.
Anyway do you all like a reamer that's made just for the short cases, or do you all prefer a full length size reamer? what freebore and neck sizes do you all like?
I sold all my 22 stuff, but I think I may give it all another go. Ill have a die reamer made this time, or have jim carsensen make me a die with the chamber reamer. I had always used harrels dies in the past.
just looking for ideas. lee
