Need some info on actions..

So my father a old avid hunter, gave me two remington 600s 6mm and 6.5mm mag. I WAS thinking of building off of those actions into a short handier rifle 16-20 barrel 308win as my 24" is not much fun to lug around the wilderness, But been asking around and alot of people have said that they are desirable rifles just the way they are and that I should leave them the hell alone.

I am looking for input on what to do with them?

ABSOLUTELY leave them ALONE!!!! They are way more valuable as they are. If you want to do some kind of .308 mountain rifle, I would gladly trade you a 700 action and some cash for the 6MM 600. Especially if it is in the "Buck Rogers" plastic stock. Call me. 515-556-5833

Sean, the 600 series will work but the Model 7 Remington is the equivelant to it in weight...why not just sell or trade one of the 600s for a Model 7 in 308...?

Sell the 6.5 Mag It will bring you enought to buy a custon action-if it has NOT been butchered.
