Need help

Have put on new barrel, tried barrel that shot pretty good.
Can not get any to shoot. Tried scopes, checked screws, tried different rests, bullets, seating depth, neck tension, powder charge, can't shoot under a 2 with 3 bullets. Wanted to make the southeast matches this year as I could. Not with this gun. Bedding seems tight, trigger swapped out. What as I missing please.

If it was chambered by a reputable benchrest gunsmith I'd contact them. In the meantime check for copper with Sweets. Give us more details, bullet and jam, powder and charge, range conditions, etc.

Tried 28.6 / 29.4 / 30.0 133 / Bart 65 bt,
In/ out from touching 5+/ 5- up to 20 thousands
13.5 kreiger / wind 2-3 mph / humidity 60 / temp.
68 degrees. Kinda lost here ????

I understand. Something should have shown promise, but, looking for sub 2 groups, consistently, in 2-3 mph 90 degree x-wind might be asking a lot???

I'd try at least 2-3 different bullets. The Barts 65 BT's have shot some winning aggs but a bullet with that short of bearing surface in a 13.5 might, just might, be right on the edge especially if your seater is not perfect. Look for a 7 ogive FB first. Brady makes a good one in 66 grain so does Lowell and Gary Conoway. IMO, the 13.5 twist is more fussy about perfectly seated pointy bullets than a 14.

The rpm of a 13.5 at 3350+ a bullet needs to start out really, really, concentric or it takes a long time, in the wind, to go to sleep.

What does the leade look like, concentric??

Barrel

Could it be that you have a new barrel that just wont shoot. I've had a few like that. Sometimes, accuracy comes at a price. Another new barrel may show a different behavior.

Hi,

You might want to check the neck diameter of your chamber and make sure your brass is neck turned to the appropriate thickness.

Also, I have found when there is a light or very little wind present, mirage can be a real problem. Check to see if your target is bouncing around or if the lines are blurry with the gun just sitting in the rest.

It is also a good thing to make sure the lock rings on your scope are tight. If they are loose it can wreck havoc on your target.

Good luck!

Steve - If I understand, your rifle that has been good has gone bad. You've got to go through everything that moves to make sure it's moving right and everything that doesn't move to make sure it ain't moving right. Hopefully, it will be somewhat easy to find. Put on a barrel that you know something about and have at it. Start with the smaller items first....trigger, springs, etc. Then move to the bigger stuff such as bedding. Get somebody else to shoot it somewhere along the way...just sayin'.

If you simply can't find the problem, get another rifle. Life's too short to spend time with a losing rifle.
