Is there an accuracy conscious person out there who would like to help me with an experiment with reguard to accuracy windows. What I need is some one with a factory produced sporter weight rifle, around 8 pounds weight with a good bedding job. Please leave behind any previous ideas about seating depth or accuracy development and proceed as follows. Using a chronograph find a good strong load with a low shot to shot veiocity spread. Next using a dummy round find the exact over all length of a loaded round that just kisses the rifeling in Your gun. Measure the distance between the rifeling mark on the bullet and the neck of the cartridge case and split that distance into four separate and equal increments. Next load up some rounds in batches of 3 with the 4 different over all lengths. Try to eliminate variables like wind, mirage, copper fouled barrels and so forth and bench rest the four batches. I would like to make an educated guess and say that your groups will shoot to different points of impact in the vertical plane and that your highest and lowest groups will be the tightest, because thats where the accuracy windows are located. Please let know what happens?
