Would somebody that shoots a 22-.100 do me a favor. I would like for you to neck it up to 6mm, then see how much H4198 it holds to about half way up the neck. Getting winter and need a project for the ole brain, whats left. Thanks,

Donald, the 220 Beggs cartridge has the same internal capacity as the 22-100. When I necked it up to 6mm, it proved to be every bit the equal of the 6PPC using H4198 Extreme. Muzzle blast and felt recoil are much reduced while muzzle velocity and accuracy are the same with 68 grain bullets.

The 6mm Beggs is a very efficient cartridge and I'm sure the 6mm-100 short would be identical in performance since internal capacity would be the same.

But why would you want to go to all the trouble to form cases when I've allready done all the work with the 6mm Beggs? Reamers, custom sizing and seater dies are available and there is NO case forming.

The 6mm Beggs holds 26 grains of H4198, the 6PPC 28 grains.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I know about your cartridge design and see the advantages. But what I am trying to do is figure out what to do with all the 6ppc cases I have, that I no longer shoot in competition. Depression baby and just can't throw things away. Was just thinking that a 6ppc-.100 might be just the ticket. You know shorter and fatter. I am guessing that the 6ppc-.100 would hold about 25-26 grn of H4198. Velocity probably in the 3300 fps range. I have all these barrels and cases and just thoght, Hey, just cut about .100 off the chamber end or rechamber and run the reamer in .100 short, dies too, and you are home. The taper on the 6ppc is so little that a small body die would probably take care of any problems. Just a project to occupy the mind. If anyone has about 5 or so 22-.100 cases that are past prime and wouldn't mind sending them to me to play with, check my profile for email info and I will send you my mailing address. Even send some bucks for your trouble. Just need something to play with for a while........
