The 600 Yard Nationals are coming up very soon so please mark your calendars. This year there will be a catered meal on saturday that is free to those shooting the match.Friday and sunday we will have a hot dog vendor available.Hopefully this will allow you some extra room in your truck or car and give us a wider selection to choose from.
It will be held at the Sacramento Shooting Facility off of Ione Road which is a right turn off of the Jackson Highway.
We will practice and sight in sign in on thursday all day.
The Match Director is Craig St Claire and all should run very smoothly.
Sunday after the match we will give out the trophies and take some pictures.

You will be shooting 2 lightgun targets and 2 heavygun targets per day and can reload at the match.I think Cheechako reloads there quite a bit.
On the line there won't be any tables so if you need something bring it with you.
Once your through for the day we have a large steel building were everybody goes to eat and clean guns and you can reload there as well.
I think alot of guys reload inside of there trailers as well. The big building is about 500 yards behind the 600 yard benches so you won't be able to access it between targets unless your extremely fast.

load at the range---yes

Hi Al,,,as Lynn says ,,there is a great place to load behind the line...but you must have enuff loaded to fire your two LG targets and the two HG targets ...because you shoot all four targets simutaniously (sp) ...so you will need at least 50 loaded rounds when you go to the line.(aprox 10 for each LG target and 15 for each HG target)...then when the days shooting is over (you must do pit duty when it is your turn also) ...you can use your loading equipment in the range building......there is unlimited time then....I like the NBRSA format which allows us to use the same gun for both Heavy and Light ...the muzzle break is legal in both classe so someon like me who must fly there can bring one gun and the loaded rounds (no components like primers or powder can be carried on a passenger plane) to shoot the entire event in one gun case and be under 70 lbs total weight ....Roger

......there is unlimited time then....

What do you mean by this? Is the range building open late? All night? Is there camping at the range? Do people actually hang around and visit instead of walking from their bench to the car and driving away?

thanks

The actual range will open at 8AM and close at 5PM but you can hangout all night long. You can stay at the range for the whole match if you want and guys like Tillroot1 park there trailers right by the big steel building.
It is up to each shooter wether or not they hang out.Alot of the guys stay in Jackson and when the match is over they go to the casino there with there wife for dinner and gaming.Other guys hang out all day and night.
My father is 74 so we go to our hotel room and relax or go to one of the other ranges and shoot practice. If your a club member you can even go fishing at the clubs lake.We have trap,pistol,tactical,silhouette,100-200 benchrest,f-class,palma,cowboy action,22 swingers and just about everything in between.

hang out

YES AL...this range is one of the best in the country.....they do all types of shooting....shotgun-pistol-muzzle loader-long and short range rifle-etc.....and you can camp at the range and load in the big covered bldg....and of course hang out and camp and visit ..that is as much fun to me as the shooting...there is no better bucn-0-guys....it is not an event at which you listen to an oratory from some range official and then shoot a cupla targets and the drive away ...you get ur moneys worth!!!!!!....I fly in and eat and stay in town on the beltway (US-50 bypass) aprox 20 mi. from the range......it is very handy.....Roger

Hey Expiper

Roger
Rumor has it you have built a new gun for the nationals and it is feeling competitive.Let me know what it is as my father doesn't remember the details.

Al, there is usually a cluster of people camping at the range for the Nationals, there is NOT full hook-ups, there is a generator that can be run to re-charge batteries, and water spigots at some of the sites. I always bring my own generator, and hook up my water hose. I do not think there is a spot to dump your tanks. The building area is open on two sides and has alot of picnic tables and a bbq, and I seem to remember a sink inside there as well. There is a portable blue-room at this site as well. and there will be blue rooms at the pits and fireing line also. I think that the overnight fees are usually $10.00 a night. There is a Blackpowder bunch that is usually staying on that weekend that is the friendliest bunch of people to be around, some kind of party every night. Its a pretty good time. Ron Tilley
