Just a reminder that we are about a month away from the Nationals in Sacramento.

If anybody needs anything or has any questions please contact either Craig St Claire or myself and we'll get you fixed up.

Again accomodations will be available in Galt at a discounted rate and they have fuel and food in the same strip mall.

The weather right now is running 100 degrees and sunny but by the end of October it should be mid 60's to mid 70's

If somebody can drag Cheechako to the match please do so as he has been absent to long.
Lynn aka Waterboy

P.S. We have a match coming up on the 27th of September at 1,000 yards so if you want a Pre-Nationals warm-up this would make a good match to attend.

Range address?

Lynn, or anybody,

Do you have an address or name for the range? I want to print driving instructions to and from the range/motel.

Thanks,

Jay, Idaho

Jay, the address for Slough House Bench Rest Shooters Inc is 15501 Meiss Road Slough House Ca 95638.
If you stay in Galt Map quest and GPS will take you out of the way about 20 miles. If you do your route from Galt to Ione and Ione to the range it will save you some miles.
I hope this helps see you there.

You can also go to the ranges website at www.sacvalley.org
If your coming in from Reno,Nevada don't use your GPS unit.
Meiss road turns into a catepillar tractor road after it goes past the range and your GPS will try and get you to take it.We had a guy in a BMW try it and he had to go all the way back to the Jackson HWY.
If your coming in from Galt you'll be fine.

Mapquest suggests, if coming from the east, to be going west on CA-16. Turn left (south) on Ione Rd. and go 4.0 miles. Right on Meiss Rd. for 0.8 miles and you are at the range address.

Sound right?

good directions Jay////

U ar rite....the Ione Rd. turns south aprox 3.5 mi west of the Rancho Murieta airport....those lil airports are on most GPS systems....it is a good land mark...
I can give sevral "short cuts" ....but dont want you ending up in jail...grin....Roger

We have been shooting there about 10 years when The Expiper shows us one of his shortcuts and it actually works very well.I was shocked that a West Virginia Country Boy who can shoot figured out the California road system so quickly.
I would not make his famous right turn on a red light then cut across 3 lanes of oncoming traffic and make another right so you avoid stopping at the signal. Those run $300 for the first one and go up drasticaly from there depending on the judge you get.
Your coming from Reno on interstate 80 so do it exactly like you posted.Your looking for HWY16 or The Jackson HWY.You can only make a left or turn south on it so you can't go the wrong direction. When you reach Rancho Murietta and the airport your getting close.Ione road only turns right as its a tee so again you can't go in the wrong direction.
You will pass by a huge paintball course on Ione rd and there are no side roads until you reach Meiss rd so you can't make any mistakes.Meiss rd is the road the range is on and it is the only 90 degree turn in the road.It is also a tee and you can't turn in the wrong direction.

When you pass the trap fields and the lake you will come to a tee in the road. There is a sign there saying that everybody must check in with the range officer in the store/range office.DON'T DO THAT as it doesn't open early enough and you'll be late.Make a right turn and you'll travel past about 12 ranges set up for pistols silhouette cowboy action tactical and law enforcement. We are the last range on the property and have a big steel building 4-500 yards from the benches.
If you have a trailer or camper you can stay there but I don't think they have any hook-ups?
If you show up on Thursday I drive a red gmc truck with a green tonneau cover and wear Team Calfee hats and shirts.
We can shoot some clay pigeons and tell lies.
