Guys load up your ammo we are about 1 week away from the match.

The weather looks like its going to be good as well.

Does anybody know if Carl,Billy.Gary,Larry or any of the Washington guys will be coming down? Craig has already received a pile of registration forms but none from Washington yet.

Is Alinwa coming down?

Lynn, I can only speak for myself and Billy. Billy intends to be there but my shooting funds for this year were exhausted by a 50 year wedding aniversary trip to Hawaii. Hope you have a good match. Carl

The Company Is Good....

I should be loading.

But I can't decide between a FL or a neck bushing die.

I have a new lot of H4350, and I tested it yesterday. To match the velocity of my accurate load, I'm going to have to go down from 39.4gr to 38.9.

But I haven't tested it for groups.

At least the bullets--another new lot--showed up from Powder Valley yesterday.

I've been thinking about this for so long I'm at the stage where we have to remind ourselves that we do this for fun.

It may be beautiful, Lynn, but you have a really nasty range.

But the company is good.

The weather is there for everybody and this close to a big match we must remember to think nice thoughts no matter what.

My father is driving me crazy getting his new Dasher barrel dialed in.I ordered up a neck bushing 3 weeks ago and it still isn't here yet so I ordered up 3 more to be sent out overnight express.I did this friday at a cost of $45 extra just for shipping the 3 neck bushings.I bet they don't weigh 4 ounces total and get this they are to be here on Wednesday??????

One of these days somebody will be able to explain how this constitutes next day air but I'm not bitter as long as they get here.

On your brass does it chamber easily if you only neck size it or does it chamber slightly stiff? Does it eject flawlessly or does it require any extra effort on the top of the bolt throw? I would let those two answers decide how I did my brass.

I will be shooting neck sized only brass with 2 shots on it for the match as will my father.

Too Many Variables...

I FL sized last time, Lynn, and as you'll remember it squeezed the cases and lengthened them, so it took a little pressure to close the bolt.

Which is okay.

After removing the striker assembly--on a Barnard, this is easy, just unscrew the bolt cap--I checked my fired cases. There's some variation, in that some need a little pressure to close the bolt and others don't.

In the meantime, we cut a bushing die in a Newlon blank with the chamber reamer. I don't expect any body sizing at all, as I used the go gauge to set my die, and it feels like it's only sizing the necks.

With this set up I'm getting .0005" case neck runout, which I take to be good.

I haven't had a chance to test these new neck sized cases, but my inclination is to go with them, and a bushing .001" under loaded neck size.

So there you have it: new powder, new bullets, new neck sizing die.

Way too many variables.

N.B. If anyone has any comments or advice, they'd be welcome.

Didn't know if I was coming. I just bought a house and still haven't put everything away. Heck I just put my first shots down range today. Haven't fired a shot since May. Guess my equipment is working OK so I guess I'll make the trip. Kinda miss all your ugly mugs.
Gotta let Craig know I'm coming up. See you guys on the line Friday.

Steve Brenda & I are coming

Steve,

Brenda and I decided to give this a try. See you there.

Ted

Ted, Is Brenda going to pound me into the ground like she does when we shoot FClass? I guess I better show up with a Vente Starbucks with a double shot for her in the morning. just to steady her hands.

Steve

Steve,

She says she doesn't know what she is doing in benchrest.....hmmm.....I think that she does.
