I got my new Shelley tuner last week along with a new barrel Shelley chambered for me.
It’s always fun to have your gunsmith hand you a new barrel but it’s all together different when it has your new tuner threaded to the end.
I’m a regular at the Denton range so I already had some experience with these tuners.
I started with 29.5gr of 133, ran the tuner weights all the way out to the end and then came back two full turns. I could not believe how easy this thing was. This being a new barrel I wanted to try and keep the round count down so I started with three shot groups. After each group I took the weight in four numbers (the tuner is marked from 0 to 31).
After four three shot groups I started shooting five shot groups. I didn’t shoot a full five group Agg and I wasn’t on the clock but I came away with some small .2s and a mid .1.
I have only scratched the surface on my testing but watching those groups shrink as I turned that turner was a lot of fun.
Thanks Shelley,
Jon
