I wait 3 months and last week my new 22 rimfire 4 groove tight bore "fat barrel" arrives. Tomorrow my new piloted reamer should ship.

This evening i unwrap and try slugging my new barrel. I don't know exactly how it should feel but i gotta learn. Anyway i push the slug thru and count the groves, no reason but looked more than 4 grooves. Well my new 4 grove has 6 grooves!!

The end of the bbl is stamped 22 16 T 4G. It is written on the side in black market tight 4 GR. I'll call tomorrow and see if there is any kind of "adjustment". Really no big hurry other than it's been 3 months -i'm about to get out of the "mood", lol. I'm guessing at least a month at best to sort this out.

Finally the question, does the 4 groove generally shoot a little better than the 6 groove? Other than if i keep the 6 groove in my mind i'm going to think the 4 groove would have been that magic "hummer"!

Should i send it back? thanks joe :(

Return it

Joe:
Any time you receive something different than what you ordered, return it. Even though no one can prove either way, that 4 is better than 3 or 6 is better than 8 or any one of them is better than the other, you will never be happy. If something got out of the barrel makers shop mis-marked, they would like to know. Ideally this should just stay between you and the manufacturer.

Why don't you call Virginia at Lilja and see what happened? Could be just a shipping error and they can exchange for you. Then you will know the problem. No one on this board knows what happened

I guess i just needed to cry a little bit, lol. I'm 60 -don't know when my clock is gonna run out for me. Seems like everything gun related is 3 months wait. i just got a new Kimber from the CMP, almost 4 months wait--- but hey at least it was a Kimber in the box and a nice one! I'm about waited out right now i guess, a month for a reamer. Some of this 'stuff is gonna come in after my funeral, lol.

I was pumped and already to go on my new project, i guess i'll take that energy and go mow the yard or something, lol.

Reckon anyone out there in BC land would sell me a 2350 -10 or 12x target??? it would sure save me a few years and some bucks! I could hang it here in front of my computer and go on to something else, lol.

I guess i should be happy a barrel was in the box, I bet it will shoot better than me, thanks, joe:D

Hey, cheer up, haven't you heard 60 is the new 40. You should have plenty of good years left. 60 is too young to act like you've got a foot in the grave. Geesh! You should have plenty of time to left to wait for guns, barrels, ammo etc. Of course it doesn't hurt to eat a salad once in a while and exercise a bit. You do have to do your part. ;)

If you want a four groove send it back, but somebody indicated it's a Lilja. One of the best barrels I ever had, and still have, is a 6 groove Lilja tightbore. Maybe, you ought to keep this one and order a 4 groove.

Old Farts

Hey JGEE,
Just get out there and mix it up, do what you want and let somebody else worry about what to do with your toys. I do what what I want, when I want. By the way I'm 71 & 11/12s.:D

Old farts

You tell them Seabee and Happy Birthday, soon.

if the barrel is good it's good no matter how many grooves or wizz bang attachments we hang on them. if it slugs good for you i say run it. heck what do want for it if your not happy with that JUNK barrel. tell you what i'll cover the shipping so you dont have to look at it any more.
