i am shooting my first rifle with a muzzle brake. it is a 6.5x 284, kreiger 9 twist barrel on a rem 700 trued-up action. my load is 57 grains of
retumbo, 142 grain sierra with a 210 primer. the gun has not copper fouled for the first 800 rounds. now it is copper fouling the last 3 inches
at the muzzle. no copper in the rest of the barrel. the gun is still shooting under half a minute out to 900 yards. does anyone think the
copper fouling is caused by the muzzle brake?

nope........ re-solidification of vaporized copper, you get the deposit at the throat and at the muzzle. Walt Berger once went on record with "looking into the muzzle and observing the copper deposit there gives you a good idea of the amount of copper in the two inches ahead of the throat."
