Muzzle brake

I have a muzzle brake coming from PTG, it comes with a bore to suit a 22 cal which will need to be bored out to suit a 30 cal, my question is how big ????
Thanks Matt P

20 thou over bullet diameter is kind of the accepted standard if it is concentric with the bore.

I agree with Dennis. If the machining is very good you can get buy with .015. I checked several .224 brakes last week and most were .250.

Hope this helps.

I have made 5 inch concentric rods to check alignment for each caliber... about 2.5 inches turned and polished smooth so it will freely slide in the bore and with about 2.5 inches turned to 10 thou over bullet diameter... when the brake is installed tight on the barrel, this rod should move freely in and out of the bore on it's own weight...

very nice dennis...i knew there was a reason i listened to you...
