Muzzle brake thread

Hi All
Would a .900 x 32 TPI be suitable to attach a brake on a 284 Shehane barrel ???
Matt

I'd much prefer the brake butt up to a a square shoulder. You could always turn it down and thread for a brake, then thread the od of the brake for tuner weight/rings.---Mike

If you are going to build the brake, I'd suggest a .875-32 thread instead of a .900-32 thread. You can buy 7/8"-32 taps easily. Not so .900-32. I use a 7/8-32 thread on my tuners. But they don't shoulder up like a brake. You don't need much of a shoulder for a brake, but that depends upon the muzzle diameter of your barrel.

Hi
The barrel has a shadetree tuner on it but would also like to be able to be able to remove the tuner and fit a brake, if the brake locked up against the front of the barrel rather than a shoulder, are there any potential issues ??
Thanks
Matt

In my way of thinking, if your brake butted against the crown instead of the barrel thread shoulder, you would not get the potential buildup of crud that you would find if there was a gap(as in butted against the shoulder of the male threads instead)
