Allow me to introduce myself, I am a total novice shooter and have only been involved with “accuracy” shooting for only three years. I attended an “East-West” shoot-out several years ago and the next year competed in my first registered Benchrest tournament. I placed exactly where I had hoped-in the middle of the pack and not dead last! I check in to this forum frequently to obtain useful information from the wonderful Benchrest folks who are willing to experiment and share their hard-earned tricks of the trade (Thank you Jackie Schmidt, Gene Beggs, and others too numerous to mention)! I have noticed that when you post on the Centerfire forum that your posts are sometimes met with skepticism and derision. What I propose is means to silence all of your centerfire critics. How about if you build a Benchrest rifle of your own design (incorporating all of the secrets you have garnered over a long and illustrious career) and then go to the closest registered Benchrest tournament and totally dominate it! I know you will probably say that you can’t afford it but I, for one, would be willing to contribute to a fund (and I suspect a lot of other folks would also) to compensate you for any lost revenue that you might sustain while building a Calfee Centerfire Benchrest rifle but think how much you could sell it for later after totally dominating a match! If you don’t think you could compete, I am sure any number of fine Centerfire Benchrest shooters would be willing to take your rifle and only fire it “according to your rules”
on water condensation and such! Either way, your critics would be silenced forever if your rifle and your instructions dominated a registered match!
It is obvious that the Centerfire Benchrest Crowd has been totally wrong all of these years but they seem to be eager to recieve any information regarding enhancing accuracy and you appear to have exceptional knowledge.

Shut Up Fund

I'll kick in a $100 to the PUT UP or SHUT UP fund. Best wishes to all who have their EGO's under control. Glynn

With all due respect.....

The "prove it with a rifle of your own design" in the hands of "Kathy" or any other designated shooter has been put forward on this site many times before. It has never been accepted, and in my opinion never will.

I think "Kathy" bends over double with laughter each time he posts another nonsense theory and gets responses. I think for some perverse reason, it's all a big joke to him. Well...I think the best way to respond; is no response at all. The Amish apply the "silent" treatment to great effect and...taking my own advise, in the case of "Kathy", I'll start now.

That would do it.....clearly it's a game.....

Realizing of course that we don't call every individual out that has a thought with "put up or shut up". Bill's thoughts are of accuracy and often not related to competitive benchrest shooting where reality and theory NEVER meet.

EGO (as my boys will tell you) is actually a paintball marker (the manufacturers don't want to call them guns). It has VERY different characteristics from a rimfire or centerfire rifle...never seen one with water in the barrel, but definitely have seen them with paint in the barrel which DOES impact their accuracy...

Luckily my boys sold off their EGOs to purchase BR rifles...

IF I allow water to accumulate in a barrel long enough, can I turn my 30BR into a sqirt gun?

All in fun!!! :D

except

The best equipment will never win without the best shooter.

That is why Calfee loves to build rifles for really good shooters.

Hell that's why most BR gunsmiths love to build rifles for really good shooters. When shooters win with their rifles then they are top builders.

But then again some of the best shooters build there own rifles.

It's all a "copy cat" game. Then when someone (Calfee) says or does something different some gets upset.

Way way to many rules.

I seem to recall someone beating everyone with a barreled action mounted on a 2X4.

Calfee does have a style that just seems to chase the dog. Reading some of his articles is like.............oh yea, uha, yep and then at the end you say WHAT! Then you go back and read it again because you are sure you must of missed a paragraph;-)=

And that is why PS is always next to the toilet! What else you going to do?

Tom, I'm thinking of getting an EGO to use on the deer eating my wife's flowers. Any sugestion's. Thanks, Glynn

Go to a local sports store and by the cheapest marker you can find for that job...or check out what's available on e-bay...The EGOs (a high end model of marker) new sell for more than a decent rifle (over $1K) but with practice you can splat deer with LOTS of paint balls in a short period of time...

Hope that helps!

Tom

In addition to Jackie's/ Bart's kind offers

Just a reminder to let Mr. Calfee know some cash could be involved!
