More Postal Opportunities

If you like the concept of postal competitions, another thought before gas hits $5.00 per gallon.

Northeast club versus Texas club or California club or Oregon club or Washington club. 2 California clubs or Oregon versus Washington. Lots of possibilities. Playoffs and a championship. Teams shooting during the same day or same approximate time frame. Might make World Postal qualifying more interesting.

Any thoughts?

Hi Steve,

I like shooting... inside.. outside.. upside down..

I like to shoot with friends, share a meal.. and a brew after the match. Postal matches can NEVER be a fair comparison of the shooters, since they are never shot under the same conditions for all shooters... but none the less they get folks shooting, and that's a good thing.

In my mind the winners are only winners at the event they shot in, but comparing who won, at the different "shoulder to shoulder" matches under those conditions is fun and interesting... and I have no problem doing that... it's a good thing too. The "Postal Match" winners are top notch shooters, no doubt, and can be called the winner of the postal match.. that's cool, but it just makes me want to have those folks get together to see what shakes out at a "shoulder to shoulder" match someday in the future.. That's the best thing about the "Postal Matches", laying the ground work and desire in the shooters, for more large matches where we all come together.

I'd like to see some qualifications for the team members, when we have these events, which means we have to plan the matches well in advance... and, of course, plan the qualification matches in advance of the postal matches.

Let's shoot!

Wayne,

There is no doubt, you like to shoot.

Since the outdoor division of the USA Scoreline will be the qualifying for the 2012 World Postal teams, it might be interesting to have some interstate, or even intrastate, postal matches.

The various club teams can have different numbers of shooters, with only the top 3 scores from each club deciding the outcome or any other combination.

We all hope that future circumstances allow for more regional and national events. The Northeast Regional scheduled in Salem, New York and Western Regional being planned in Grants Pass, Oregon later this year should be outstanding events.

Tend to agree with Wayne on a couple of things, firstly shooting upside down, living Down Under we have found that's the best way to shot the equipment we get from the Northern Hemisphere :D

Re postals Wayne has it right, they are not a true comparison or a test, as of course they can be shot in very different conditions but he also said something else that is more crucial and that is these postals get us all shooting more. What i like is that they get us shooting more against (in a sense) each other all over the world, so that is a good thing for the sport.

Air Rifle is starting to take off and i believe it is thanks to WRABF & ERASBF bringing this forward to the rest of the World @ World Championship Levels coupled also with initiatives and pushes like these Postal Match Challenges from the USA.
