Modifying 10m match rifles for 25m BR?

First, I apologize if my question is re-hashing old news but I'm kinda new to benchrest with air rifles and this is my first time posting in this forum.

Has anyone tried/had success with modifying the mechanism of the 10m match guns such as the Anschutz 8002 series to make them more powerful, as in the the 12fp class?

Thank you.

Jim

I have not heard of any mods on these 8000 or 9000 series to up the velocity as yet. Likely is not much point as the Walther is available (or was) in a couple velocity steps maybe the Styer also. Way back when the 2002 (7.5 ft #) was relativly new, prior to the introduction of 2020 (12 ft #) and 2025 (15 ft #) ( both discontinued) there were some folks modding those as well as the FWB P70. for 800 fps or so velocity. The primary change was the regulator assembly.

Dave Welham and a couple of other UK based airgunsmiths mod these up to 12ft/lb for the FT boys.

Thank you for the replies. Any additional information regarding how to contact Dave Welham and/or others would be appreciated. I'm not sure it will be practical or cost effective to send a rifle to the UK for modification but I'd like to at least pursue the information by making an inquiry.

Thanks again.

State side you can try to contact Allen Zasadny. He has done conversions in the past. No e-mail or web sight. Ph # 319-472-3845 as of last May. 10 years or so ago he was doing conversions on ANZ 2002ca and FWB P70 uping the power to at least 12 ft lbs. I know he is still involved in air gun work but not to what extent.

I spoke with Allen and asked if he would do my Anz 03, since I do not use it for 10m anymore. At the time he was to busy with other orders to fill. His Ph # has changed to 319-334-7261. Best of luck to you.
