Minor technical wind flag question

Recently, when viewing a video that a friend had sent me showing range wind conditions, I saw that his nearest flag got its ribbon (surveyors' tape I believe) wrapped around its stand, which effectively disabled the flag, as far as being able to read wind velocity. Of course this is not the first time that I have seen this, but it made me wonder if anyone has a way to prevent this from happening.

After the agg you have to go unwrap it. Not only does it disable the velocity, most times it wont even turn when it tightens up. You can use sail tails to prevent

you can also

use poles with no external screws. Nothing for the tape to grab on to. Also, if the flags are properly balanced the tails are less likely to lead the flag and get wrapped up in the daisy.

Had this problem.
One of our suppliers sent surveyor's tape that was smooth.
I checked my supplies and had an old roll that had a texture to it.
The morning dew or rain was creating a stickie effect. The textured stuff left an air bubble/separation, so the moisture would run off and not create a vacuum.
All good.:)

Use shorter tails. Those super long tails are confusing and distracting.

One year at Kelblys I was on bench 1, had an 0.071" through 4 shots when the corner of my eye caught a super long tail of a flag on the left berm being wound up in its daisy and I accidentally touched the trigger....last shot was about 0.250" put!!

Those super long tails can be very misleading in gusty winds!
