Miller Single Set Trigger

Gentlemen,

My company acquired the Miller Single Trigger Company in 2010. We purchased it mainly for shotgun work and never intended to investigate Miller's rifle set trigger very deeply. We have of late been researching and developing the single set Miller trigger in a Mauser action and are quite intrigued with it. We are seriously considering producing and installing this trigger again - this would be the first time it has been available in around 40 years.

I am hoping to get some feedback as to whether there would be any commercial interest in this trigger in benchrest circles.

As you may know Mauser actions are not much in use for competition rifles these days. But that is not to say that there would not be demand for them for other uses, particularly since Canjar is no longer with us. When I first started learning about benchrest rifles, I asked the fellow that was my mentor if set triggers were used. When he told me that they were not, I asked him why not. His answer was that their method of operation created vibration that would not be helpful to accuracy, or words to that effect. Since that time (many years back) I have never seen or heard a set trigger being used in benchrest competition. Where I have seen them is on custom hunting rifles, primarily to give a light pull when testing at the range. Good luck with your endeavor. Keep us posted as to new developments. I think that there will always be room for excellence.

That is exactly what I needed to know. It would be quite an undertaking to bring this to market, so we need to know if there is one first! I had a conversation a year or so ago with a gentleman who did use the Miller trigger in competition and he spoke highly of it so I thought there may be some interest. Thanks for the reply!

Dan: It seems, that CF & RF benchrest shooters are use Remington style triggers with the current custom actions. Another source would be good for competition. As for a set trigger, don't see mutch of those in BR.
 
Mauser triggers

Dan, I have a friend who builds a lot of good rifles on Mauser actions----very good rifles for informal bench shooting and live varmint hunting.

This fellow buys quite a few Timney triggers each year but I don't know how much demand this market segment would have for Mauser triggers.

You might be able to get some info from some of the varmint hunting sites.

Dan May, If you have a good product, a market will find you. Many fine rifles made on Mauser actions. Now if someone
produced a good trigger for a Savage, There is a market with cash in hand
 
some of the sako rifles could use a good aftermarket trigger too

TAYLOR & ROBBINS used them years ago on their fine custom rifles. I only live a few mile from their shop They are dead now but I use to go there in the middle 60's and vist and drool over their guns. If you could make one for a Remmington or Winchester I know they would sell. I have been thinking about a Kepplinger single set but heard they are not very good. I know I have tried a Miller and they were super.

We have successfully installed our unit in a Mauser action and are very encouraged. The trigger is unique, simple and functions beautifully. We intend to press on in development and will be studying the competition's triggers to make sure the whole venture makes sense for us. I am personally quite taken with the trigger - it is functionally elegant, I'll have to build one for myself at least!
