Quickload says that you'll be right at 1125 fps (at my home range in Boulder CIty Nevada - elevation 2,100 ft alt), so it will be altitude and weather dependent if you can get there and still be supersonic. The Bergers are supposed to be fairly stable in transition, so it looks pretty good - assuming that Quickload gets the velocity right.
Quickload says you'll need 62.25 minutes of elevation to get to 1,750 and 66.0 to get to 1,800. (1,760 is a mile). Dial as much as you got and then hold the rest. To verify its accuracy, it also says you need roughly 22.50 MOA to go 1,000 yards, and 30.50 MOA to go 1,200 yards.
Your proposed method of holding over for added elevation is corrrect from my perspective. That is exactly why you got the reticle that you did - so you can hold over, under and for wind without having to find some other equipment.
I once shot a 1,000 yard match with a .308 and no 20 Minute base, shooting the entire event holding over by approximately 20 minutes. It worked, but was not optimal. Needless to say, I had a 20 minute base on the rifle the next match I shot.
