I was wondering if anyone has had any experiance with Richards Microfit Stocks. If so what were they good or bad. I am interested in their bench rest, I know they are not up to what the high end stocks are but what can I expect with one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank's
Steve.

This topic has been discussed several times. You may want to try search for more.

That being said, expect a LOT of woodworking, especially on the outside. I have two of their stocks and didn't mind the work. If you are un-comfortable with wood working then you might pass. The in letting I found to be acceptable (I had mine pillar bedded, so that probably helped). Others have reported less satisfactory results. Several of my friends, knowing what they were going to get, have ordered them as well. Once completed, they are a decent stock for the price.

Micro Fit Stocks

If these are micro fit, I would hate to see a macro fit!

This being said, some time with the chisel, rasp and sandpaper will yield a pretty good stock for the $$.

I have fitted 3 or 4 and have another in the works now, but I enjoy the wood work aspect of the job so it isn't a bad deal for me.

I usually go for the factory second of the top grade and have some stocks that are right nice. Not like the high $$ jobs, but I'm not a high $$ guy.

Good lick.

Just bought one myself and its everything they said it would be! Very pleased!

I used a Richards last year on my .50 Alaskan

It took a lot of fitting but overall it was decent laminate. I've cut better quality but for the price I was satisfied.

Richard's Micro Fit stocks.

IMHO, Richard's Micro Fit stocks are one of the better deals out there. GREAT selection of styles and wood to choose from. Know in advance that they're not a "drop in" and be prepared to do some work to make it "your's". The finished product depends on how much work you put into it.
I like the BR style stocks. Lots of wood to work with so if you make any mistakes, you can cover your tracks. Pillars or a V Block can make a BIG difference in the action fit.
I have or have had at least 8+ of their stocks and love every one of them.
The stock as it come to you can range from looking like it was cut with an axe to looking pretty good. Knowing before hand what to expect when their stocks get to you is half the battle.
Well worth the $$ for the styles available and half the price of a custom made stock that can cost 3 times as much and some wait times up to a year.
Order up the style and wood of your choice, sit back and be surprised at what you got when it shows up.
