I've heard folks recommend the Edgewood Minigater or Protekor for McMillan HV Edges. I'm curious to the exact set-up however (body height, ear height, stitch, etc). I realize this can be a bit subjective but any input would be appreciated.

Lee,

I've got a McMillan LV and am using a Protektor Bumble Bee with cordura ears, 3-stitches (5/8"?) and it fits and tracks GREAT! I think it's 4" tall and has either the medium or the tall ears - NOT bunny ears. I'm having Protektor make a spacer underneath (3/4 or 1 inch) so I can sit a bit more upright.

And if you order from Protektor, the bag comes pre-filled.

The stitch width is critical. 1/8" less than the width of the flat on the buttstock is usually the default width. If it is a 1/2" flat on the buttstock, then 3/8" would be the stitch width. Minor adjustments can be made through ear sand fill.

A bag stabilizer is highly recommended for uneven surfaces on the bench. Protektor has one: http://protektormodel.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9&products_id=252 and so does Edgewood, using a different name. I have both. They work great, and can add to bag height depending on how much sand you use.
