I bought a nice Western Field 30-06 Mauser yesterday and was wondering if any of you know of a good drop in trigger for these , or a simple trigger job process ? Thank you , Kenneth
Depends - the Timney fits most mausers well. The only problem action I've had is a Husqvarna commercial 98 action that has two problems with the Timney. The cocking piece has a cut out so that the sear will pop up & drag on pulling the bolt back. The other problem is that the side safety needs to be bent to fit the existing cut out on the side of the receiver. It might be easier to mill the receiver. I haven't gotten around to fitting the trigger.
The rifle has a JC Higgins 30-06 barrel on it - a Shilen 6.5 barrel is waiting to be fitted for my #2 grandson. A Swede just should be a 6.5 and my older grandson already has a 6.5. Neither are old enough to hunt - yet.
Regards, Ron
I have bought the Kepplinger, the Bold, the Timney, and the do it yourself Silver solder, drill and tap.
I think for most of the 100 or so Mauser sporterizings I have done, that just grinding some off the rear trigger hump is good enough.
