Hello Everyone.
On May 4th and 5th, 2019, Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club held their 2nd match of the year. This contest would determine the winner of the Manley Oakley trophy. Pdf with match results and group photo attached.
Saturday brought us a cool morning with some tricky wind conditions. The sun came out early and stayed with us all day. That means mirage, and high scope magnification and mirage do not play well together!!
We began with our Sporter class at 100 yards on Saturday morning which was won by Mustafa Bilal with a tiny .1890" agg.
That afternoon at 200 it warmed up further, the wind and mirage caused major havoc, but Mark Walker showed us all how it's done, taking the 200 yd agg. (.2936"). Jim Stipe shot the best overall for the day winning the Sporter grand aggregate (.2846")
Sunday brought more warm weather and the light wind played a role in group sizes.
We shot the Heavy Varmint class at 200 yards in the morning. Larry Muller shot a nice .2114" agg. to win the yardage. At 100 yards in the afternoon, Mustafa Bilal took the yardage with a .2010" agg.
Mustafa shot the best overall for the day and took the HV grand aggregate with a .2236" agg,
Mustafa Bilal kept his cool and brings home the trophy, winning the 2 gun with a .2553" agg,
Congratulations Mustafa! Manley Oakley would be proud!
Small group awards go to:
Matt Spradlin - Sporter 100 .110"
Mark Walker - Sporter 200 .297"
Mark Walker - HV100 .130"
Steve Kostanich - HV200 .262"
Of special note:
Nice to have shooting with us Larry Muller, Jim Stipe and Eldon Yarbrough who traveled to Tacoma from Oregon. Big Thank you's to Geoff Hallett, Craig Kensler and Zach Silverton for doing a fine job running our Range, Stats, and Target crew.
A very special thank you to Jim Lynn, who noticed we had a couple shooters that did not have any flags. who took the time to put together not one, but 2 sets of flags and stands for Jim and Eldon. A very nice donation to help our sport along. We all thank you!
Dan Kjelland has been doing a tremendous job procuring prizes for the Wa State Championship.
Please see the attached prize list. I'm sure it will continue to grow.
Also Dan has compiled the SOTY( Shooter of the Year) points to date. That list is also attached.
Thank you Dan!!
Thank you and see you next month for Heavy Varmint on Saturday, plus bring out the rail guns for 5 shot Unlimited on Sunday! Bag gun shooters are welcome and have in recent years been very successful in the 5 shot matches.
Looking forward to see you there!
