Match Class Question ??

I don't own a Match rifle. But I do own a couple of Airarms Carbines ; and I've turned the power down on one of them to qualify for match class. My question is about the maximum speed for match class. As I undersatnd it it's 600fps (or less than 7fpe) but + or - 10% . So a rifle is legal for match class as long as it's less than 660fps? I've set mine up right at 630fps and wanted to make sure it would qualify if I was ever checked. Of course, I'd have to make it to a match first. LOL :D kirby

Match guns are no longer classed by speed. The 7 fpe limit is the determining factor. Energy is determined by speed and pellet weight. Your speed would be well under 7fpe if you are using a match pellet. If that speed is in 22 caliber with a heavy pellet, you are probably over. Look up an energy calculator and plug in your speed and pellet.

Thanks , That shed some light on it . At my current pellet , speed combo ,I'm at 7.4fpe; I'll have to drop the speed some more or find a lighter pellet that groups as good as the ones I'm shooting. Oh well, more trigger time. kirby
