The Rock was in rare form today with 15-25 mph winds switching from 7 to 11 o'clock and changing velocities at the drop of a hat with mirage like shooting thru a swimming pool with a 3-4 in chop on it and considering it was a 200 yd match on 100 yd targets you could get hurt real bad if you missed a little change. I had as much as 4-5 ins. of push on some conditions and just miss a little letup and you were toast.David Apple came down from Maryland to play with us so we fed him good with chilli beans and nanner pudding to make up for the Rock being so unfriendly, thanks for coming Dave we enjoyed having you down. The weather was nice except for the wind, temps in the mid 30s to start and it came up to the mid 50s. The winner in Vfs was Gerald Wright w 238-1x, Roy Darnell was 2nd w 237-4x, Steve Stanley was 3rd w236-5x, Dashing Dick Powers was 4th w 236-3x and Bob Yerkes was 5th w 229-0x. In custom Class Butch Mays finally knocked off George Neal for the win( with one of George's guns, in what other sport would someone lend you something to beat them with) Butch had a 229-2x score to George's 222-4x, Doug Knowles was 3rd. In Factory class Charles Ellertson was 1st w 231-3x and Gene Barton was 2nd. For the winter league Roy Darnell ran away with Vfs w 979-42xs, Steve Stanley was 2nd w 966-44x, Glen Williams was 3rd w 965-41x, Bob Yerkes was 4th w 962-29x and Dale Avery was 5th w 942-29x. The only person in position to challenge Roy was George Waldrep and he missed to day following some surgery, get well soon George. In custom class George Neal won w 957-38x and Butch Mays was 2nd w-950-24x and Charles Ellerston won factory w 947-16xs. We had the lightest turnout that we had all winter with 20 shooters 15 Vfs, 3 Custom and 2 factory class. I think everyone enjoyed the shoots and thanks to Roy for putting them on and Maurice for running the line and targets and a special thanks to Roy's wife for feeding us Chilli beans and Nanner pudding all winter, It was great and help make up for not shooting so good. I have really enjoyed these shoots and getting to meet some of you guys for the first time and visiting with old friends. The folks at RCGC are super nice people and a nice facillity but the place is damned hard to shoot well at. Thanks again and congratulations to all who shot well, hope to see you at the range, Steve
