marlin 800 series trigger

has anyone tried to lighten the trigger on a marlin 800 series rifle. i shot mine for groups the first time yesterday and the trigger was awful. i didn't put it on a gauge but id guess 8 pounds. it was defintally the heaviest trigger ive ever felt. im going to try and lighten it today. i figure if i screw it up i can order a rifle basics trigger for it. right now my only option is to order the trigger so i figure i mise well give it a shot

I installed a rifle basics on my 17 hmr. before the new trigger came out. works good. 1 # pull.
