Making a 5 shot magazine

Hi

Any where I could get info on constructing a magazine (some might call it a clip). I would like to duplicating a 5 shot magazine for a Tikka M55.

I have two M55's, my 308 has a 5 shot mag, my 243 has a 3 shot mag, both mags have no matching similarities. The 5 shot looks the easiest to construct.

I am get tired of swapping the 5 shot mag over to whichever rifle I am using at the time.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I will bet that someone on here has had a go at it.

Cheers

Hi Max
Can you point me in the direction of a seller. I did source one from a dealer in the USA, he refused to ship to Scotland. They are like hens teeth.

cheers

I don't know where to buy one but that would be easier and cheaper than making one. I've known one person in my shooting life who could make individual stamped steel magazines successfully. In one instance he converted a S&W M41 rimfire pistol to shoot .32 S&W Long for International shooting. He made functioning magazines for it. I am still amazed to this day. I think he sold his soul to the devil to be able to do it.

Reynard, do you need the 5 round capacity or would a single shot adapter suit your needs? Check here http://www.dctechs.com/obspage.htm

Hi
Thanks for the replies, a bit confused at your single shot adapter suggestion, I already have a 3 shot magazine in my .243 Tikka M55 ( which bears no resemblance to the Tikka M595 magazine, not compatible). I am trying to gain two extra rounds capacity not lose 4.

I will try downloading a picture of the magazine tomorrow.

Cheers

Seems to be alot of sources, dont know which ones will ship to Scottland;

Hi Don
As I say, my rifles are the Tikka M55's, not the 595, T3, nor anything that came after the M55. I searched all the pages in the link you posted, still no tikka M55 5 shot mag.

The M55 rifles were made by Tikka before Sako bought them out, when they were quality rifles, since the Sako take-over the rifles are built substandard to original Tikka, and sold now cheaper than a new Tikka M55 was some 15 years ago.

This is my opinion which may differ from others points of view.

Thanks for at least going to the bother to help out. much appreciated.

Cheers

Norweigen source, if you can crack the language/shipping barrier, they do sell some USA products, so english speaking is probably available;

Hi Don
Nice find. The magazine that is pictured is nothing like the magazine that I already own, may just be a library picture, mine is straight sided with no sloping bottom.

Thanks for the effort.

Cheers

Thank you for the offer, I will certainly bare that in mind, have a couple of possible used mags that I am awaiting word on, fingers crossed.

My brother in law is a well known gun-dog trainer here in Great Briton. I just found out yesterday that he is over in Finland to hold some dog training classes. I should have got him to make some enquiries when he was out there.

Cheers

If you were to contact South Yorkshire Shooting Supplies (in the UK) 01226 756332 and ask to speak to Dave Wilde, you may find the magazine you want.

I know Dave has just recently aquired an M55 and three or four spare magazines. I spoke to him the other day about your quest, he would possibly part with one..

m55 mag

If you are still looking, consider emailing the Tikka factory. I was in a similar situation to your's. I emailed the factory and received a reply, 2 years later. By that time, I'd tracked down a 222 mag to convert to 22-250. But the essence of the reply was that the mags are available from the factory.
