Magnum Primers?

What could I expect if I use magnum rifle primers in say 243 or 308?I ask this because I have a bunch of these and no magnum rifle.I mainly use extruded powders 4895,4350,4831etc.

A friend of mine shoots a .308 in F-Class TR and accidently loaded a batch of his 308 ammo with Federal 215Ms in January of last year; they shot great and had low ES and SD. He realized the mistake before he shot the ammo, but shot it anyway; it was an experiment that turned out to have no real downside (at least any that we could see).

A number of folks are of teh opinion that the magnum primers are not quite as consistent as the regular match primers.

I was wondering if pressures would change drastically.I had some old winchester lr primers that were marked standard or magnum and they work great.I wonder if fed215's are a lot hotter than those?

I tried magnum primers with my .308 loads a while back & found no significant difference with the powder I was using at the time- same velocities & spread, same accuracy.

You will often find that with low density loads (loads which have under about 80% case fill with the powder charge) the magnum primers help to reduce ES, which will give better long range accuracy.
