lug to action

Hello, I have a cnc machined over sized lug to fit on a Savage action. The machine head screw is tight and will not go on without applying force, like say tapping it with a plastic hammer. Would it be better to remove a little material from the action or from the lug. Is it supposed to fit very snug or just pushed in by hand with good force.

I like them a little tight but not enough to deform the metal in the slot or the screw head. The most I might do is put a small radius on the screw head to give it an easy start.

Hi, thanks for the tip. It worked great and didn't take much, and it has a nice snug fit but can be easily removed by hand. It might have had just a little burr because emery cloth did the trick in a matter of a minute. Thank you.

I like the Savage lug locating arrangement. I no longer mess with Savage actions but on my Remingtons I cut a slot in the face of the rec to accept a Savage lug.
