For all who knew Mike Swartz (the old worn out toolmaker)
He passed away yesterday morning after a long illness.

I too am sorry to hear of his passing. Mike and I exchanged a lot of emails in times past.

I had not heard from him for a few months. Wonder if his good friend and companion, his dog, got a good home?

Francis,
I knew Mike for some 30 + years. He was a prolific gun collector and shooter. I met him some 30 + years ago when I was setting birds for a local trap range, my first job at age 13. He shot a lot of trap too. Mike would go out of his way to meet people and help them with questions they had about bench rest. He bought a set of .22LR pistols (manufacturer unknown) just to study the chamberings.

I'm sorry to hear this. We exchanged quite a few emails regarding an early custom BR action that was giving him fits with the primary extraction due to the cam angle on the action and the poor fit of the mating angle on the bolt handle. Mike mentioned that an RFD handle would be just what he needed to fix the problem and as luck would have it, I had an extra one and sent it off to him. He mentioned some health issues but was looking forward to tinkering with many projects once he got feeling better.

Godspeed, Mike.
