Looks like my kid needs a new airgunsmith

At last weekend's Holbrook shoot my poor kid shot horrible with his marauder. He was so disheartened that he didn't want to shoot the last target so I did. I couldn't keep the pellets in the square, they were all over the place. We thought it was a new lube that we were trying but tonight when I looked at his gun I noticed that I had forgot to reinstall his breech oring. Not only did he have a giant air leak but the pellets were getting mangled as they passed over the empty oring groove. It was so bad that the air stripper had lead bits in it.
Oh well, that'll teach the kid.

You did fix Norm's Walther!! one out of two isn't bad.
Washed and sorted two boxes of CP's for my 12 fpe gun. Hope to test my 12 fpe gun tomorrow. Didn't leak down last night. Trued up the face of my welded on PIP.

And here I was thinking I was bad putting the inertia weight and spring in backwards which allowed the spring to back out through the washer that holds both in place in my Theoben and letting the weight simply slam away at will as the bolt flew forward. Now see, this kind of thing happening is what I was referring to the other night when I said we going to bed as young men only to find ourselves waking up as a senior citizen. Brain farts happen on a regular basis once we grow old. By the way, did you fix it for free?

And while we're on the subject of Brain Farts: Paul, what's a PIP?

The PIP is the part of the hammer that opens the valve. On FAC hammers it's short on 12 fpe hammer it's longer.

I have made similar mistakes on purpose in teaching others not to always rely on me.. lol...
