Bob: yes, Jim passed away early June. A close friend from our club handled the estate sale/ number of items were mind-boggeling. Great guy, we'll all miss him.

Big Jim

Hi, first time poster here, yes, I knew big Jimmy Yakimovich, he was my mentor and was responsible for getting me into bench rest. Jimmy went trout fishing with me this spring, he hooked a really nice fish but lost it, damn I wish he would have landed that fish. Anywho, Jim was the first to let me shoot a 6PPC and I always wanted to get a bench gun, but with a family and everything, could never afford a good one. So instead Jimmy got me into switch barreling Rem 700s, and man did I ever. Well upon his passing away, I had an opportunity to purchase one of Jim's Bench rest guns, he called it the "Rootbeer gun". Well I really couldn't afford it but I went ahead and bought it anyway, my wife was understanding as she had met big Jim at my home for a Deer Kaboob cook out once. She still wasn't happy though about all the money I spent on it, but, afterall it was "Big Jim's " bench gun. I sure do miss him, God's speed Jimmy.

I met Jim on another web forum which he also led me to here. Jim was most helpful to me with turning necks with the KM products. Some years back I attended the IBS Shooting School in Canasota (probly miss spelled). Before leaving I called Jim and said I wanted to take him out to dinner. He was all excited that I was going to visit him in Pittsburg PA. He invited me to stay with him and his wife (since has passed). We went out shooting the moment I arrived then he wouldnt let me buy the dinners; I was able to buy lunch. Jim was very proud of his gun collection. He is missed.
