Im just getting started fresh with two new 30X44 barrels that came with the rifle that I bought a couple years ago. I don't know much about this caliber but I plan on learning and using it for Hunter Class BR.

I didn't have a FL resizing die so I sent 3 fired case off to Neil Jones to take care of that. Now while I wait, its time to gather likely components.

The barrels are .30cal, 1:16 twist Rock Creek barrels. I make the brass from .300 Savage brass.

I've done some searching but can't find much. Any suggestions on bullets, powder, load data, pet loads, ect would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :)

Your barrel will nicely handle all of the BR quality FB bullets of, and up to, a little over 1.10" long - for custom bullets, made with J4 jackets, this will include most any weight between 110 through 136 Gr. . . . and, if made on the 1.080" long jacket, even 150 grains.

With the 30x44 capacity cases, it's difficult to beat H-322 or, N-133 . . . or, if ya have some, the old T-32/T-322. Other good numbers are BenchMark; N-135; Win. 748 and H-4895 (the latter three are best suited to heavier bullet weights). The newest Hogdon offering - 8208XBR ( I think that's it) should prove excellent - as a rule, if it works in a PPC, it's great in the 30x44 - 30x47 cases. Good shootin'! ;) RG

Thanks alot RG!!

To the powder Randy mentioned, you could add Varget. I have a 30x44 made by Felix Jarrett, and using the 127 BIB bullets (from R.G's old Backmon die), it shot lights-out with a full case of Varget. N-135 also shot well. I believe that die is long gone, though.

Great, Thanks Charles!
I need all the help I can get.
