I went through this whole TIG thing last summer.
I bought a Miller Syncrowave 180 TIG welder and tried to learn how to TIG weld. I've been MIG and O/A welding for 35 years. TIG is a whole different animal.
I took an adult education course at the tech school on TIG welding and I became quite proficient. As long as I was doing it every day! If I put the machine aside for a week or two, I had to relearn most everything. My classroom notes became my friend.......
I had someone that wanted to buy the Syncrowave and was going to pay me more than I paid for it. I sold it and bought the just released Miller Diversion 165.
What an amazing machine. So freak'n easy to use. I can run aluminum and SS like a pro. No real learning curve. It even comes with a book "TIG Welding For Dummies"........
I have friends with the Chinese stuff. Terrible. Constant problems. I had to take one apart and resolder everything inside to get it to work right. All of them I've tried I simply can not run a nice bead in Aluminum. I'm not saying a pro couldn't do it. But with my level of expertise, it's a mess.
Spend a bit more and get a Diversion...........You simply can't beat Miller Blue!
